Homer to Katmai | What to Bring | Bear Tours Leaving From Anchorage
Alaska Peninsula Day Trip and Katmai National Park Day Trip
Alaska Bear Tours also offers a one-day bear viewing experience that may fit a busy itinerary. Bring lots of film for the camera as we fly over the majestic mountains, remote islands, and awe-inspiring glaciers of Cook Inlet to the Alaska Peninsula or Katmai National Park, home of the world's largest population of Brown Bears.
It's an easy hike with our guide to a remote wilderness location. Our location is dependent on the time of year. In June, mating season, the coastal sedge flats where the bears graze on spring grasses and young cubs enjoy there first summer. In late June and July, salmon draw the bears, hungry after a long winter of hibernation, to pristine waterfalls, wild running rivers and streams. Mid August and September ripe berries on the hillsides also rich with wildflowers frequently lure the bears from the salmon rich streams.
We are reminded that we are watching the same scenes that ancient Native Americans did over 10,000 years ago.
After a leisurely lunch we continue our once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in Alaska's wilderness observing and photographing these magnificent brown bears and the wildlife that surrounds them.
In late afternoon our plane returns us to Homer with exhilarating memories of an Alaskan bush adventure never to be forgotten. Leave some extra film in the camera in case we spot a pod of Humpbacks or Orcas swimming along the coast.
